Intercostal drain - the unsung hero of thoracic surgery

For post operative management after thoracic surgery(including cardiac surgery) or for management of chest trauma, chest tube with water seal drainage is essential (and sometimes life saving) because of unique physiology of thoracic cavity and respiration. Only after knowing the physiology and management of chest tube thoracic surgery could have advanced as of nowadays.
