Abstract

7. National Alcohol and Substance Dependence Congress organized by AMATEM clinic in our hospital in collaboration with Dependence Psychiatry Association will be held on December 8-11, 2011 in Papillon Ayscha Hotel, Belek-Antalya, Turkey. Main theme of this year?s congress will be ?New Horizons in Treatment of Dependence; Developing Policies and Clinical Implementation? and detailed information about the congress can be accessed from http://www.bagimlilikkongresi2011.com web site. As the congress is planned to be an environment which both new advances in dependence field and practical experiences, we expect professionals from all professions working or having interest in this field. In our previous issue, we announced that English version of original articles will be open to access at our journal?s website simultaneously at the English section. Our aim to have the articles in Turkish sent to our journal for review translated to English by a professional company without any cost is to increase international access to these articles and consequently increase citations. Everyone knows publishing requires effort, time and knowledge. I think that at the end of this process all authors wish their papers to be read and cited next. Our aim is to find appropriate ways to meet authors? expectations. For this purpose, we first provided access to all issues starting from 2010 in English from our website. This was not adequate for us so we collected English texts of all articles published in 2010 in a CD-ROM in English. We also planned to distribute this CD-ROM first in international congresses which will be held in Istanbul in June 2011 and distribute it at other international congresses after updating it annually. Recording our journal at Digital Object Identifier (DOI) which is a numerating and access system and having been accepted to various indexes in a relatively short time of one year aim to facilitate access to papers which authors spent much effort. Another indication of respecting efforts of authors is the mean review period of less than a month. Effort and time of reviewers have to be taken into consideration at this stage. Except for giving thanks to reviewers at the 4. issue each year, there is nothing concrete in return for them. I think that besides advancing scientific learning process of themselves, these people who aimed to increase scientific level of their country should have fallen in love with science as well. For this reason, we are indebted to our colleagues who are reviewers of our journal. There are two more points I would like to mention. Another indication of authors? efforts to their papers is having them written according to instructions. This is also a factor which will accelerate review process. Authors can obtain necessary information from ?Information for Authors? section at our website. I would also like to remind that articles published since 2010 can be downloaded from ?Archive? section of our websi
