Neurosyhpihilis: A Case Report

Abstract

Syphilis is a sexually transmitted disease caused by Treponema Pallidum. Neurosyphilis occurs %7-9 of the cases that infected by Treponema Pallidum. Neurosyphilis develops between 5-30 years after the infection. Of late years, neurosyphilis and HIV coinfections have been seen together and the treatment of these cases is more difficult than classical neurosyphilis. Neurosyphilis can mimic any psychotic disorder. Neurosyphilis should be considered in the psychotic diseases that shows atypical processes and shows limited response to neuroleptics. The clinicians should pay attention to the comeback of neurosyphilis in last years. Neurosyphilis is a critical disease because of the difficulties in diagnosis, altough the number of the patiens has mostly reduced after usage of penicillin.
