Attachment Theory and Psychopathology

Abstract

The relationship between mother and infant and its quality is one of the fundamental subjects of analytical perspective. Winnicott and Klein, who are of great importance to the development of post-freudian psychoanalysis, dealt with this subject, in part of their theories. Besides them, Bowlby, who is different from many analysts with his identity as an investigator, and Mary Ainsworth, who especially worked experimentally, conducted observation and research on the early period of mother and infant relationship and its quality. Here, in this article we review the attachment theory and its relevance in terms of psychopathology.
