Maria Abid, Kaleemullah Kakar, Mehreen Fatima, Fasiha Sohail, Arfeen Azam Khan, Kiran Abbas.

Abstract

The present study highlighted some of the rare but fatal complications of dengue fever in Pakistani population. To the best of our knowledge this report is among the first few series which indicates some serious manifestations of dengue fever patients in young men. The report sheds light on some very serious issues that could potentially lead to catastrophic events in relation to the patient outcome. Non-affordability and non-accessibility are two major factors that may lead to patient fatality, especially in infectious diseases. It is recommended that the health authorities act and raise mass awareness about dengue fever in Pakistan.

Key words: Dengue, dengue hemorrhagic fever, DIC, thrombocytopenia.
