Role of Optimism and Resilience in Overcoming COVID -19

Dr.Meenakshi Joshi, Prof Richa Arora.

Abstract
COVID 19 is a virus strain which has terrified the world with its deadly presence in
thousands of human carriers across the world. It was first identified in Wuhan, Hubei
Province of China in December 2019 and since then in just two and half months, it has spread
in almost six continents of the world. The paper is an approach to establish the role of
optimism and resilience in overcoming the fear of COVID 19 and eventually the deadly
disease itself. Optimism is a personality trait exhibited by people who tend to exhibit that
good things will happen to them and bad ones will not harm them, similarly, resilience is the
ability to withstand adversity. Both optimism and resilience give inner strength and help in
overcoming difficult situations. This paper tries to establish these given facts in
conceptualizing and overcoming COVID 19.

Key words: COVID 19, virus, optimism, resilience, personality trait
