The construction industry, which is singled out as one of the core industries of Turkey, has a considerable number of overseas operations. Various news stories about Turkish construction companies are published in foreign news portals, in English language. However, despite our comprehensive research, we could not identify any previous studies analyzing the contents of these news stories. It is noteworthy that, these news stories have a significant effect on the image of the Turkish construction companies. In order to clarify how these news stories, shape these companies’ image, it was necessary to elaborate these as a whole, both systematically and methodically. The process was lengthy and cumbersome, as it required dedication of a considerable amount of time and effort and as it was hard to stand aloof from the subjectivity of the news stories. All these news stories have been scraped and analyzed with text mining and sentiment analysis methods. Within the context of this study, 496 news items were analyzed. As a result, it was discovered that the news topics generally refer to positive relations between the Turkish government and the other governments. Notwithstanding, the negative news generally emerged during the “aircraft crisis” with Russia in 2015.
