Autonomous Guided Vehicles (AGV) were initially introduced to speed up the process of delivery of goods and products in industrial warehouses and manufacturing units. In the industrial working area, it is very difficult to understand the problems related to transporting goods efficiently. Hence the study of working environment and algorithms related to AGV’s are very important. The idea is to categorise the problems related to AGV in two major parts that is path planning and error correction. Path planning deals with finding the optimal path from the source to destination. Error correction deals with implementation of the system which can detect if the AGV is moving as per the planned path and how the system should behave in case of some load conditions, obstacles in between the path. This paper aims to cover some of the proposed approaches to deal with these problems. Various approaches for path planning and error correction are studied and discussed in this paper.
