Occurrence and pattern of clubfoot deformity in Khyber PakhtunKhua: Hospital based physical rehabilitation center perspective

Abstract

Objective: To determine the frequency & pattern of club foot deformity at rehabilitation centers of Khyber PakhtunKhwa, Pakistan.
Methodology: This cross-sectional descriptive study included 1000 patients who visited the rehabilitation centers of five major hospitals of Khyber PakhtunKhwa from January to June 2019. Sample included cases with lower limb deformities of both genders recruited using non-probability convenience sampling. Data were collected on a self-structured questionnaire and analyzed using SPSS 22.
Results: Out of 1000 participants, 362(36.2%) had clubfoot deformity; 227(62.7%) had bilateral, 70(19.3%) right sided and 65(18%) left sided clubfoot. Congenital clubfoot was most common, seen in 314(86.7%) participants. Type of clubfoot was significantly associated with age (p
