Moral disengagement and relational aggression: Mediating role of Machiavellianism, Narcissism and Psychopathy

Abstract

Objective: To find the relationship of moral disengagement and relational aggression mediated by machiavellianism, narcissism and psychopathy among adolescents.
Methods: This study was carried out at Department of Psychology, University of Gujrat from August 10, 2017 to January 5, 2018 and included 612 students from diverse academic institutes with age range 12-19 years. Urdu version of dark triad personality scale short version was used to assess machiavellianism, narcissism and psychopathy and diverse adolescent relational aggression scale (Urdu version) was used to gauge relational aggression.
Results: Findings revealed significant mediating role of machiavellianism, narcissism and psychopathy in the relation among the variables (NFI=.976, TLI=.958, CFI=.979, GFI=.956, RMR=.026, RFI=.95 and P-value=.000)
Conclusion: Machiavellianism, narcissism and psychopathy mediate the link between moral disengagement and relational aggression among adolescents.
