Methodology: This is retrospective study was carried out urology department, Chandka Medical College @ SMBBMU Larkana Pakistan. This study included 100 patients with ureteric stones from January 2020 to April 2021. Urinary tract infection causative organism was confirmed by preoperative and postoperative urine culture and monitoring postoperative fever. All patients were followed for fever up to 3 days postoperatively.
Results: Among 100 patients, febrile urinary tract infection occurred in 25 (25%) patients after surgery. Out of them, urine culture was positive in 11 (44%), and urine culture was negative in 14 (55%), who postoperatively developed fever. Among urine culture positive patients, E coli was most common, in 8 patients out of 11.
Conclusion: Postoperative urinary tract infection is common after ureteroscopy even in those patients who were urine culture negative preoperatively. It might be due to organisms residing inside stone, which comes in circulation after fragmentation or time taken during surgery may be independent risk factor.

Key words: Urinary tract infection, ureteroscopy, lithotripsy.
