Efficacy of mobility exercise on a novel ‘Dancing Carpet’ among community dwelling elderly

Objective: To evaluate the feasibility of Dancing Carpet, a low-cost, game-based balance training platform, among community-dwelling older adults.
Methodology: This study employed a within-subjects design. Each participant (N=40, age: 67.5±5.8 years) performed standardized balance-Berg Balance Scale (BBS), and 4-Stage Balance Test (4SBT); and mobility assessments-Timed Up and Go (TUG) test and 30-Second Chair Stand Test, on both the conventional floor and the Dancing Carpet. Paired sample t-test was used to compare performance across conditions.
