The role of the balance between lipid mediator resolvin D1 and interleukin 17 in the development of psoriasis

Objective: To determine the serum IL-17 and resolvin D1 (RvD1) levels of patients with psoriasis and to reveal their relationship with the psoriasis area severity index (PASI) and other inflammatory markers.
Methods: A total of 60 participants, 30 patients diagnosed with psoriasis vulgaris and 30 controls, were included in the study. Psoriasis was diagnosed by considering the morphological appearance of the lesions. Psoriasis area severity index (PASI) calculations were made for patients in the psoriasis group. Serum RvD1 and IL-7 levels were measured by ELISA method. The prediction performance of the IL-17 and RvD1 were assessed by using Receiver Operating Characteristic (ROC) curve analysis. Optimal cut-off points were determined by using the Youden index. The independent association between IL-17 and RvD1 with psoriasis was investigated by multiple logistic regression analysis after adjusting for age, BMI and gender.
