Abstract

Background: Rosacea is a chronic dermatological disease characterized by facial flushing, sensitive skin, papules, pustules, and telangiectasia, with a predominantly centrofacial location. This study was conducted to evaluate the awareness of Rosacea among the general population of Saudi Arabia.
Methodology: A cross-sectional study was conducted in the form of an electronic survey among the general population in Saudi Arabia. The questionnaire consisted of two parts: one section dealing with socio-demographic details and a second part focusing on awareness of rosacea, including knowledge and perception about the causes, triggers, and pathogenesis of rosacea, the treatment methods, preventive measures, and the psychological impact of rosacea on the individual.
Results: Of 752 valid respondents, 351 (46.6%) were aware of rosacea, of which a majority 245 (69.8%) were females. Among the respondents who were aware, awareness was higher regarding clinical features and etiology/ triggers, whereas awareness regarding treatment aspects was lower.
Conclusion: The general level of awareness about rosacea in this study was low. Of the total, more than half of respondents were not aware of rosacea as a specific entity. It is important to increase the awareness of the general public regarding rosacea.
