Investigation of Intestinal Parasites In The Staff of a Food Company In Malatya

Abstract


In this study, the staff of Malatya food company were investigated for intestinal parasites. The control of intestinal parasitic diseases is aimed in this study. For this reason food workers are examined and porters are treated.

Stool and cellophane tape specimens were taken for parasitological examination from 47 people who work in Meat and Meat product company. Stool samples were examined using native lugol and precipitation by formol ethyl acetate methods.

Parasites were isolated at 11 sample (23%) of 47 in total. 6 (12%) Giardia intestinalis, 1 (2%) Enterobius vermicularis, 2 (4%) Entamoeba coli, 1 (2%) Blastocystis hominis, 1 (2%) Iodamoeba bütschili were recognized and medical treatment was applied.

Prevalence rates and species of parasites are similar that found in patients in our laboratory and the staff of Malatya Meat and Meat product Industry and Trade company.

It is observed that companies may became the source of parasitic diseases in cases when the routine examinations are not made or not held with high priority.
