Triple assessment and core needle biopsy for early detection of breast cancer

Abstract

Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women, accounting for almost one third of all cancers in female.1 It is the leading cause of cancer-related mortality in women aged 20-59 years, and its incidence has been increasing. Similarly in Pakistan, carcinoma breast is on the top of the list. Every third to fourth malignant tumor in female, being diagnosed is found to be of this malignancy. In almost all of the studies in Pakistan carcinoma breast is the most common malignant tumor in female.2 The frequency of the tumor being diagnosed is also increasing.
