Abstract

The present study was carried out to evaluate the effect of complementing herbal feed supplements on the
performance of growing backyard Chabro birds (n=135, straight run). Thirty days old, 135 un-sexed
Chabro birds were randomly divided into 3 treatment groupshaving three replicates of 15 birds each. All
the birds were fed maize soya based basal diet @50g per bird consecutively for 90 days along with seven
hrs foraging in the covered field. But in T2 and T3, additionally feed supplements namely Natu Choline™
and Ran Livtox™ were supplemented @ 350g per ton and 500g per ton in the feed, respectively. The
experimental trial lasted for 90 days. Results revealed that body weight was significantly higher in T3
(1036.67 g) at 120 days of age than T1 (956.67 g), whereas, T2 (996.33 g) has intermediate body weight.
Serum Protein profile also revealed no difference irrespective of different dietary treatments. But cost
benefit ratio was better in T3 followed by T2 and was least in T1. It may be concluded that Ran Livtox™
supplementation is better for attaining early weight gain in growing backyard Chabro birds.

Key words: Chabro birds, feed supplements, growth performance.
