Maternal and fetal outcome of preterm premature rupture of membranes in less than 37 weeks of gestation in a tertiary care hospital - A prospective observational study

Abstract

Background: Preterm premature rupture of membrane (PPROM) is the spontaneous rupture of fetal membranes before the onset of labor and before 37 weeks of gestation. This prospective study was done to know the materno-fetal outcome in the same. It complicates 3% of all gestation and 30–40% of all preterm births. In a developing country like India, it is one of the most prominent causes of preterm births, low birth weight, and high perinatal deaths.
