Abstract

Mastoid osteoma is a rare benign bone forming tumour with worldwide reported cases are estimated around 154 until 2014. It is usually asymptomatic and poses a problem cosmetically although a few reported with associated complications. Due to its rare presentation, number of papers describing about the surgical aspect and its possible association with cholesteatoma of these cases are few. In this report we describe our experience in surgical management of a simple osteoma and another mastoid osteoma complicated with cholesteatoma. Based on our experience the management of mastoid osteoma should be individualized according to the extent of the disease.
