Values Education Continuity: From Pre School Education Program to Life Science Curriculum

Abstract

Preventing the degeneration of values that direct our lives and raising healthy individuals increased the importance of values education. The purpose of this study is to compare the 2013 Preschool Education Program and the 2018 Life Science Teaching Program (1, 2 and 3) in terms of values it covers and to determine completion status of each other. A case study was used among qualitative research methods. The data of study were collected by examining the 2013 Preschool Education Program and 2018 Life Science Teaching Program by document analysis method. Content analysis was used to analyze the data. Finally, it has been determined that some values such as responsibility, self-control, and some values such as love, respect, do not complement each other in terms of values of the both programs. Additionally, it is seen that both curricula do not give any value to some values such as justice and friendship.
