Gülbahar Korkmaz, Fatma SADIK.

Abstract

This study aims at investigating the perception levels of teachers working at primary schools located in the main districts of Adana with regard to the quality of school life. In this quantitative study, 414 teachers from a total of 15 primary schools 13 of which were state schools and 2 were private schools participated voluntarily. The results of the study reveal that (1) primary school teachers perceived the quality of school life as a little higher than average level; (2) the perception levels of male teachers regarding the school administration were more positive than those of female teachers; (3) the teachers aged 40+ perceived their colleagues, administrators and students more positive. The results also shows that teachers working at schools in low-socio-economic districts have more negative perceptions on the quality of school life, and there is no significant difference among the perceptions of the teachers with various professional status on administrative staff and curriculum of the school.
