An Implementation Of New Education Policy 2020 And Pandemic Challenges In India

Abstract

Effective implementation of a well defined and futuristic education policy is essential for development of a country as education is the main instrument to accelerate the wheel of economic and social progress. Countries develop their different education systems based on their philosophy, values, principles, culture, needs of the time and futuristic goals. The National Education Policy 2020 (NEP 2020), which was approved by the Union Cabinet of India on 29 July 2020, outlines the vision of India's new education system. The new policy replaces the previous National Policy on Education, 1986. The policy is a comprehensive framework for elementary education to higher education as well as vocational training in both rural and urban India. The policy aims to transform India's education system by 2021. Present paper focuses on the National Education Policy 2020 and the covid-19 crises and the challenges faced with education policy. After the independence the government of India set up a number of commissions and committees from time to time to remold the education system to the need of the nation. In view of this the first attempt of the paper is to understand the National Education Policy and also its challenges and effect during the global pandemic. The data is collected through the primary source. The researchers developed an interview schedule and personally visited the and collected information from the randomly selected sample. Results of the study reveals that there are significant effects of COVID-19 on the education of the people. The paper attempts to throw some light on the government schemes and programs for the development of people by improving their knowledge, skills and attitudes in National Education Policy and enabling them to increase their economic conditions. The paper also discus about the difficulties faced during the current pandemic situation in the country that how the education is affected during the crisis of covid-19 pandemic.
